Itinerary
Day1 : SiemReap – Pakse – Champasak (Flight)
Up on arrival, you will be welcomed and greeted at the airport, transfer to the River resort for check in. Free time at leisure. Overnight at the River resort in Champasak.
Day2 : Champasak – Excursions to 4000 islands and its surroundings
After an early breakfast, we are crossing the Mekong river by ferry at the River resort pier. The van pick us up at BanMouang village, we then drive further down south along the high way No. 13Rd to Naphiengdy village, from there we continue our journey by long tail boat to Don Khone, one of the 4000 island in Mekong river region and is one of the most scenic areas in Laos. we explore by local-type of tuk tuk the local villages of Ban Khone, where you will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with it’s locomotive. We continue discover the 4000 islands area by boat at our leisure to visit the Liphi waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the end of Lao border to Cambodia, also known as the Somphamith. If we are lucky, we may even see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong dolphin at Ban Hang Khone. We return to Ban Nakasang by boat. Then drive to famous waterfalls of Khone Phapeng, the largest waterfall in South East Asia, known as Niagara of the east. From there we return to Ban Mouang and get pick up by our River resort ferry. Day3: Champasak – Bolaven Plateua (The loop)
After breakfast, we check out and start our journey by road to the whole loop of Bolaven Plateau. The Bolaven Plateau is known for its cooler temperature being located high above the Mekong Valley. Rivers run off this high plateau in all directions and then plunge out to lush forests along in a series of spectacular surging waterfalls. The scenery around , Tad Yeuang,Tad Fan waterfall is spectacular with twin waterfalls plummeting into a deep gorge surrounded by flourishing vegetation. A trip to the plateau provides a refreshing break from the heat and allows you to observe the cultivation of rich coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops that can be seen en route. This trip gives visitors the chance to venture off the beaten track and to discover some of thelesser-known areas of Laos, exploring the wild beauty of this southern region and get to visit the model houses of ethnic tribes at Phasuam waterfall, such as; YaHern, Alak, Nge, Katu, Lavae… populated by ethnic minority groups. Continue our driving and checking in at La Folie Lodge. Overnight in Dondeng Island opposite to Champasak. (B)
Day4 : Champasak – Vat Phou Excursion – Luangprabang (Flight)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will start our visit the fascinating pre-angkorian ruins of Vat Phu, one of Southeast Asia’s most dramatically situated temples. We have time to explore these intriguing Khmer ruins, which are perched at the base of Mount Phu Kao. Wat Phu is one of the Lao World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 2001, this wonderful archeological site of Khmer civilization dates back to the 10th century, predating the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
Return to hotel for checking out, transfer to the airport for your flight to Luangprabang.
Upon arrival to Luangprabang, transfer to your hotel for check in. Orientation walk around the hotel and night market. Free time at leisure.
Day5 : Luangprabang – City Tour – Kouangsi waterfall
An Optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collection their alms(ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still be well preserving the procession. From there you will visit the morning market, where you will see such a diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and salt , pepper among the meat, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. After breakfast at the hotel, today you will visit Vat XiengThong which regarded as the most beautiful and significant temple in Luangprabang, with low sweeping eves, visit the former royal palace(National museum), on the way stop at the local village of ethnic minority group at NaOuan, which is called Hmong, and Thapene which is called Khmu, then drive to the beautiful Kouangsi waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the turquoise pools or walk along visit forest trails. After returning to Luang Prabang by late afternoon, we continue to Ban Xangkhong, a village well known for its silk weavings and for its Saa (jute) Papermaking. We return to the city by late evening to observe the sunset at Wat PhaBathTai. Overnight in Luang Prabang (B)
Day6 : Luang Prabang – Vientiane – Xiengkhouang (2Flight).
Morning, Upon our arrival, we continue to explore Vientiane capital by visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. . Enroute to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.
Afternoon, After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to XiengKhouang. XiengKhouang is located on an uphill and mountain surrounded by wonderful natural scenery to Xiengkhouang, which was devastated by American bombing between 1964 and 1973. Upon arrival, we will be picked up and transferred to the hotel for check in. Visit local market in the evening. Free time at leisure.
Today: Arrange to meet and collect David for a city tour or before leaving for the airport for our flight to Phonsavanh.
Day7 : XiengKhouang Excursion – Vientiane – Departure(Flights)
Today After your breakfast, we will start our excursion to the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are scattered all over the plateau. Thought to be over 2000 years old, are strewn across fields and forests. Archaeologists still puzzle over the jar’s original use and date of construction. From there, If time permits, we see the old capital of Muang Khoun, That Foun stupa, Phiavat temple and the nearby villages, home to the Hmong hill tribe people. They have an interesting local culture and a colorful history. We return to the town of Phonsavanh before transfer to the airport for our return flight to Vientiane. Upon arrival, if time permitted we should not miss watching the sunset over the Mekong river, then transfer back to the airport for your onward flight to Bangkok.(B)
